SONGS FOR JUSTICE PARTNERS

Community partners are crucial to PeaceTones®’ success. Learn more about our talented community organizers, leaders, musicians, photographers and more:

  • Ghetto Youth Focus Foundation (GYFF) – PeaceTones® met the founding members of Ghetto Youth Focus Foundation in Nairobi last summer. GYFF is a non-political, non-religious, non-tribal youth foundation that was founded in the year 2006 by a group of young men and women who came together mainly to share their ideas and to see how they could benefit from their individual talents and abilities.  In exploring their talents and abilities they would be empowered economically and socially.
  • Kenneth Odoyo Owade & Isaac Okulega Nandikove, YMCA Kibera – Amazing grassroots community organizers and youth leaders under the YMCA umbrella.
  • Ramadhan Obiero, We Are Watching You Kenya – Ramadhan is an extremely inspiring youth leader and 2012 Acumen Fund Fellow. Check out his compelling speech about his work here. Rama participated in the musician panel during our workshops for our artists and ACREF provided us with a beautiful space to run our auditions, workshops, and a concert in Babandogo.
  • The Foundation of Artists Managing Events (FAME) in Kibera – Foundation of Artists Managing Events is a registered community based organization who works to increase platforms for all sorts of talents (arts, sports, etc.). Their passion and drive in supporting Kibera artists, especially, touched us and we will be working with them to run musicians’ rights and youth leadership workshops in Kibera.
  • Joshua Smith – A phenomenal documentary photographer from the San Francisco, Joshua helped document the workshops and contests, and ran a workshop on visual media for musicians in Kibera.  Explore his portfolio here www.joshuajoshua.com.
  • Daniel Maissan– A second outstanding photographer hailing from Haarlem, Netherlands and specializing in documentary and reportage. Daniel also documented and co-ran the visual media workshop. See his work at www.danielmaissan.nl.
  • Jeff Biederman and Michael Rexford, Manatt, Phelps & Phillips – PeaceTones® is thrilled to collaborate with two music law experts, Jeff Biederman and Michael Rexford, from Manatt who delivered their music law workshops in Kibera and Babandogo.
  • Cess Karimi – Talent agent and consultant in Nairobi, Kenya.
  • One Vibe Africa – Through programs in music and art, One Vibe Africa – Kenya inspires Kenyan youth toward a deeper appreciation of culture and traditions, empowering them to develop their own creative potential. Learn more here: http://www.onevibeafrica.org/
  • Freddie W Dillie – Talented music producer in Nairobi, Kenya.
